You might not be aware but graphic designers have a reputation for keep crazy toys on their desks for inspiration. My collection isn’t very big but my girl friend just got me a new Uglydoll I’ve wanted this one for a while, but they sell out really fast.
The CCA sent out an email last week annoucing the First Year Exhibition. It’s a juried entry, so I hope I make something amazing this semester to enter. They didn’t send out many details, so I will post the full email here, and update it when I get more.
Early in the Spring semester the First Year Program will sponsor Launch, The First Year Exhibition. This will be a juried exhibition in the Oliver Arts Center of excellent work by selected First Year Students. Any student in their first year of undergraduate studies, including transfer students who are taking Core Studio and First Year Elective courses may submit their work to be juried. Instructions on the specific submission process will be emailed to all first year students at the beginning of the Spring semester.
I recently met with a member of the CCA Student paper. I didn’t even know CCA had a student paper. And they really don’t. They have a website, but to be honest, it looks poorly conceived. Check it out: http://sites.cca.edu/redisblue/
They are looking for people to help with the site, organize people, and submit content. Currently there is no printed version, but they are working on it. If you’d like to help shoot them an email: redisblue@cca.edu
I would help, but I spend most of my time working this sites, and a few others I am launching over the next 12 months.
Well, my suspicions that my Intro the Arts class was going to be ridiculously easy were correct. Despite forgetting 4 of the 8 names of the major works on the midterm, I still got an A. Professor Robinson doesn’t require that we learn the dates of anything, or even the correct spellings of their names, only that we understand the context in which they were made, what they were used for, and why they were important. There were two parts to earn extra credit, and I know I nailed both of those, so that probably helped my grade out of the B I should have gotten.
It is all happening this Saturday October 27, and in San Francisco everyone is meeting at Dolores Park 2pm and dancing at 3.
What does this have to do with school? Our next project in 4D is a proformance peice. All of us have to create, or partisipate in, some sort of performance and present it to the class. I am seriously considering going and joining in. Hell if these Philippine prisoners can do it, I can right?
It’s done. That is full extent of my feelings for this project. For several days I loathed the entire thing, but once it was completed, I entered a state of apathy for it. Take a look and tell me what you think.
If I had to do it all again, I would definitely do things differently. But give the amount of time that we had, all the technical problems, and human problems, it wasn’t half bad.
If you haven’t already, hit me up on Myspace, Facebook, or even Hatebook. I am really curious to see who is reading my blog. I know there are some students from the local art colleges, as well as some prospective students, but that only explains about half of all you readers. Who are you people, and how did you find me!
